~ Practical 4 & 5 ~
For this third lab lesson, I get to know the different types of internet
search engine. That includes search engine, meta search engine and
subject directory. Before starting with the research, I listed down
the keywords of my topic and matching keywords variations.
Example
keyword: impact, variation: effect
keyword: computer crime, variation: cyber crime
Search Facilities
Search Engine: Google
Meta Search: Meta Crawler
Directory: Yahoo! Directory
While searching for the resources, I have to note of the hits and time
taken to perform the search on different search facilities. And also do
on comparison and analysis of effectiveness of search facilities.
My Reflection
During this lab lesson, I have learn to search using keywords and
keywords variations. This widen the resource searching process.
Not only that, I learn that boolean character like "OR" and "AND"
will produce different result and hit. For example, coffee bean can
be searched as "coffee OR bean" where result of either word will
be displayed and therefore, the hit number is bigger. Furthermore,
comparing and analyzing the effectiveness of search facilities. In
